Security Reviews
ESTI provides expert staff to review an organization's existing security strategies and provide detailed recommendations. Security reviews provide the internal system administrator with an independent, objective review of the existing security system. Deficiencies are identified in the existing environment and a comprehensive security strategy is developed.
Firewalls
ESTI recommends, and has experience configuring, Cisco PIX firewalls for small to medium sized organizations. These implementations include the configuration of internal and external access-lists.
The external access-lists restrict traffic from the Internet to the internal network on pre-defined mainstream Internet services such as email and HTTP. Internal access-lists are applied to the local network to limit access based on the organization's Internet acceptable use policy. For example, an organization may wish to restrict to web traffic and block file sharing or instant messaging programs.
ESTI analysts utilize de-militarized zones (DMZ) during firewall installations. Email and web servers are traditionally placed in the DMZ, while servers containing security sensitive data are placed on the inside interface. This allows an organization to limit security vulnerabilities to crucial information.
Virtual Private Networking (VPN) solutions are readily available with a firewall installation. VPN installations can be configured using client-based software or between two firewalls in a Wide Area Network (WAN) topology. ESTI analysts have implemented a number of successful VPN solutions.
Anti-Virus Protection
ESTI analysts protect corporate networks using enterprise level anti-virus software. The software protects email systems, the network, and workstations using real-time file system protection. Virus definitions are updated automatically throughout the organization and notification alerts are sent to administrators when viruses are detected.
