TSM Roll-out

Tire Stewardship Manitoba (TSM) is a not for profit organization which manages the tire recycling program in Manitoba beginning April 1st, 2008. Tire recycling had previously been administered by the Government of Manitoba. A large amount of data is required to administer the remittance of tire recycling fees and to manage the associated tire collection and recycling facilities across Manitoba. TSM required a cost effective IT solution to support their business processes. ESTI, in partnership with the Saskatchewan Scrap Tire Corporation (SSTC), Oracle Corporation, and SUN Microsystems was able to provide a top to bottom solution.

TOM (Tire Office Management) is a tire remittance and collection system originally developed by ESTI for the SSTC. In use at the SSTC for 2 years, it is a robust second generation product featuring enterprise security, stability, and scalability, designed specifically to support the unique needs of the tire recycling industry.

An important factor that contributed to the cost effectiveness of this project was the use of the Oracle Standard Edition One database. Oracle Standard Edition One provides a price point that makes Oracle an attractive platform for small and medium size business.

Sun workstations and servers provide the backbone of the TSM office. Sun workstations and Sunfire servers provide enterprise level reliability.

With strong support from the TSM team the new system was successfully implemented in May of this year.
